Not too soon unfortunately - we actually just finished printing the cases about an hour ago, though! The only thing left to do is the booklets, but there is a decent amount of work in that.. I fell behind! I’m sorry!

Just wanted to say how much your music has meant to me. It's served as a platform for me in my creative writing endeavors and is always my go-to late night driving music. Thank you guys so much. P.S. if y'all came to Philly to play at some point, I'd be spectacularly excited.

Thanks again to everyone who came out and everyone who performed on sunday, we had a blast. It is the best to share the stage and the room with so many friends. The Act of Estimating as Worthless will now be settling down for a little while. As I write this Zoe is on a bus somewhere en route to Utah, where she will remain for a little - while I (Matt) will be here finishing up school (and dutifully working away at the Circadian Tremors packages). Though we previously announced this would be the end of AOEAW, I’d like to edit that now to say this will not be the definite end, though we will be keeping quiet most of the time. We have some hazy but exciting ideas for the fall, but at least until then we’ll be taking a little rest.

I would also like to take a quick moment to say thanks to all the past members of AOEAW - in playing with us and recording with us you made The Act of Estimating as Worthless what it is. We owe a lot to you all - Esteban, Jon, Lily, John, Pete, Tom, Gabby, Maria - Thank you.

Circadian Tremors as been a long and drawn out project for us, and though it is far from finished, we are happy to finally have the music finished and public. It has been a very different record - there was not really a band before the last record, the songs just got pieced together in the studio as we went. This time we set out to write fully-realized songs for a specific line-up, which was a pretty new process for us. As has become AOEAW tradition, the bulk of the song writing took place while we were away, in drastically different places, with demos and arrangements being exchanged through endless emails. We would go through periods of all being together and having a chance to workshop some songs, but still other songs had never been played as a full band until a couple days before sunday’s show.

As we now enter another period of being away, I will only say that we are not gone for good, but I do anticipate a good amount of quiet time from here on out. But we labeled ourselves as “quiet” from the start…

And lastly, I think I speak for all of us when I say thank you - to everyone who has listened, downloaded, sent us kind words, come to a show, bought a tape, anything. Thank you, it means the world.

The Act of Estimating As Worthless // Circadian Tremors

SUNY Purchase folk outift The Act of Estimating As Worthless have themselves tagged as “quiet” on their Facebook page. While that might certainly have been true of the band’s last album Amongst These Splintered Minds//Leaden Thoughts Sing Softly (which saw its release through good time pals Double Double Whammy) they are doing their best to break out of that unassuming shell on their latest EP Circadian Tremors.

Like a soothing babbling brook, the tracks on the EP ebb and flow gently downstream for stretches before the occasional white caps bubble up and the band explodes into gorgeous, ornate instrumental interludes with horns, strings, electric guitars, and crashing percussion. It’s loud in the sense that the band is really putting their energy out there with all their might, but it’s still deft and tender in execution. This is a band that puts the utmost consideration into every square inch of their songwriting and it pays off big time on Circadian Tremors. Boosted by some expert production quality, The Act of Estimating As Worthless are proving themselves to be one of upstate New York’s more surprising powerhouses.

For anyone still thinking about it, pledging through kickstarter means a cheaper price on the record, and if any one wants a shirt or the print, this is probably going to be the only way to get those.

Hey All, we’re down to the hours in our kickstarter campaign. If anyone has been sitting on it, please, now is the time! Its just an $18 pledge to preorder the record when its done, on 12” vinyl complete with an extensive handmade and hand printed package. The edition will be limited to 200. It’ll be more expensive to buy it after the kickstarter, so you’ll save a couple of bucks by doing it now!

On top of that, we’ve got a couple extra rewards for those who wish to donate more, including a limited edition silkscreen print that will go with the record, a shirt, and two of my zines, which are full color collages with a perforated print sewn in. and for those looking to help but spend less, we’ve got a patch for $5 and over.

We also promised to release the demo of another song, “fireworks”, once we hit $1250, and we’ve gotten there, so backing the project will make that available to you as well! Just check the “updates”.

Please consider backing and helping us out by spreading the word!
